Naidu reaches Nagaram gas accident site

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Mr N Chandrababu Naidu cut short his trip to Delhi and reached Nagaram village in East Godavari district to assess the damage caused by the explosion in the morning hours today. He spoke to the ONGC authorities and went to the spot where the accident happened . A large crater was formed in the place of  the explosion  The gas leakage from the underground pipelines which are maintained by the GAIL authorities led to a massive explosion and half the village along with 15 people were killed in the explosion . Trees, cattle and property were burnt in the huge fire that ensued after the blast.


More than 30 people have been injured in the blast and  those who have been seriously injured have been shifted to hospitals in Kakinada. Mr Naidu had to face the ire of the people who informed him that there was a persistent problem with the gas leakage and despite complaining to the GAIL authorities they took no action .He assured them that a high-level enquiry would be appointed to look into the  matter. He also met and consoled the injured in the Apollo Hospital in Kakinada and promised to help all those who were injured in the blast .The Human Rights commission has ordered the ONGC and GAIL authorities to submit  a fact finding report by the 10th of July to ascertain as to why the blast had happened.
