Mukul Rohtagi is appointed as AG

 

NDA government has appointed Mukul Rohtagi, the senior advocate in Supreme Court as the new Attorney General of India. Earlier, he has served as Additional Solicitor General during previous NDA regime. Ever since, his association with BJP is continuing till now. He is representing BJP in the courts over several cases including Babri Masjid case. He has good relations with all top brass of BJP, especially with finance minister Arun Jaitli and law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

 

A day before his appointment, Attorney General GE Vahanavathi and Solicitor General Mohan Parasaran quits their posts as their term will come to an end with the UPA government. According to available information, Modi government is planning to appoint Ranjit Kumar, a senior advocate in Supreme Court as Solicitor General of India.
