MIND Diet – An Antidote for Alzheimer’s disease??

MIND stands for Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay. It’s similar to two other healthy meal plans: the DASH diet and the Mediterranean diet. This is one such diet which does not promise to shed off some weight or detoxify our bodies but massively reduce the chance of developing the neuro-degenerative disease especially Alzheimer’s Disease.

Diet mainly focuses on brain-friendly foods like; Green vegetables, beans, berries, vegetables, nuts, whole grains, fish, poultry, olive oil and occasionally a dash of wine. The big No – No’s are; Red meat, cheese, butter, sweets, pastries, fried and fast foods.

Studies have shown good results of cutting down the risk of Alzheimer’s disease by 50% if stuck to the regime properly. While following a partial MIND diet has also shown about 20% success. Thus, it is a great diet plan for the young elders. This diet is particularly potent in the late – onset Alzheimer’s disease wherein the genetic factors seldom plays a role.

The MIND diet not only reduce the risks of neuro – degenerative diseases but also to some extent protect from the heart disease and keeps us healthy. Unlike the other diets this diet is both easy to follow and plan. As this does not involve comprehensive calculation of calories and nutrients nor does it specifies the number of meals and snacks neither it s strict with the time schedule.

It is very friendly diet, which can be followed by one and all!!
