KP Sharma elected as Nepal’s new Prime Minister

Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli (63) has been elected as the 38th Prime Minister of Nepal. Elections become inevitable as the two main political parties- Communist Party of Nepal and National Congress Party couldn’t come to consensus on whom to make Prime Minister of the country. While KP Sharma, who is Chairman of Communist Party of Nepal, (Unified Marxist-Leninist) bagged 338 votes, former Prime Minister of the country representing National Congress got only 249 votes out of 587 votes. Hence, Khadga Prasad Sharma was declared as the new Prime Minister of Nepal on Sunday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted him on this occasion and asked him to visit India soon.
