JNTU derecognizes 174 Engineering Colleges in Telangana!

Following the orders from Chief Minister KCR, the task force formed by JNTU has found 174 engineering colleges in the state do not have qualified faculty or necessary infrastructure to teach the students. So, JNTU derecognizes 174 colleges and did not allow them to be named in the web counseling process. So, the colleges have filed a petition in the high court challenging JNTU decision and appealed the court to add them in the web counseling list.

The high court bench presided by justice A Rajashekar Reddy takes up their petition yesterday for trial. Heated arguments take place between the lawyers of both parties in the court over de recognition. Senior lawyers DV Sitharam Murthy, Raghunandan, Suresh Kumar, D Prakash Reddy, Ravichandra, Niranjan Reddy and Vinay have argued on behalf of the colleges and K Ramakrishna Reddy, the Advocate General of Telangana government has argued on behalf of JNTU.

The lawyers representing the colleges argued that it is prejudice to derecognize the colleges overnight without giving any prior notices. They questioned how JNTU can de recognizes the colleges, which have permission and recognition by the AICT.

However, Ramakrishna Reddy representing JNTU argued that the task force has found that the colleges are substandard and engages the engineering graduates as faculty for coaching the engineering students. He asked why the colleges are scared and insisting for recognition by JNTU when they are claiming of having recognized by AICT. The high court bench after hearing their arguments adjourned the case to Saturday.
