77 Died Of Grief Over Jayalalithaa’s Death

People take the extreme step of committing suicide when their beloved ones pass away. For example- as many as 122 people across Andhra Pradesh reportedly died of shock or committed suicide after the death of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Now, the same situation is observed in Tamil Nadu.

The AIADMK in Tamil Nadu said a total of 77 persons died of grief and shock over Amma Jayalalithaa’s death. They announced a sum of Rs 3 lakh each to their families as relief. The party also released the list of 77 dead persons, who hailed from different parts of the state.

The Party officials also announced Rs 50,000 for a party employee who allegedly attempted suicide and a similar amount to another person who cut his finger off following Jayalalithaas’s demise on December 5.

Meanwhile, a central intelligence estimate has put the toll at 30 besides four suicide attempts. The AIADMK release did not specify whether the illness referred to her September 22 hospitalization or the cardiac arrest she had suffered on December 4, a day before passing away.

Rather announcing count of persons who have committed suicide, AIDMK should have requested people not to take the extreme step.
