Handscomb - Marsh Resist, Match Drawn

Australia’s middle order batsmen Shaun Marsh and Peter Handscomb held their nerve admirably for Australia to draw third test match with India. Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja defeated Matt Renshaw and Steven Smith within the space of four balls in the morning session to leave the tourists in deep trouble. But Marsh and Handscomb refused to panic, combining for a calm and sensible stand of 124 that prevented India from winning the test match and taking lead in the series.

Though Marsh got out in Jadeja’s bowling after scoring 53 runs in 197 balls, Handscomb was there batting unbeaten with 72 runs until India’s captain Virat Kohli offers Australia the draw. The first time a visiting team has batted out a draw after trailing in the first innings in India since 2010-11. And that on a pitch with a lot of rough outside the left-hand batsmen's off stump.

Jadeja picked 4 wickets and R Ashwin, Ishant Sharma took one wicket each.
