Gurunath Meiyappan, son-in-law of BCCI Board President N.Srinivasan, who was summoned by Mumbai crime branch (MCB) police has arrived in a charter flight to Mumbai along with his lawyer PS Raman on yesterday evening. Gurunath, the CEO of Chennai Super Kings team, is wanted by police for his involvement in betting in the present series of IPL matches. Police takes him into custody at upon his arrival at Mumbai airport and shifted him to Crime Branch head quarters for interrogation.

MCB police have grilled Gurunath for nearly 3 hours on yesterday night. They have traced out that he was in regular contact with Bollywood actor Vindoo and involved in betting through him. Vindoo revealed that Gurunath is used to pass the inside information to him which was forwarded to bookies for betting. Vindoo has confessed that he was used to bet on Gurunath’s behalf but lost Rs.1 crore during these IPL-6 sessions.

Later speaking to media Joint Commissioner (Crime) of Mumbai Police Himanshu Roy said “We have arrested and questioned Gurunath based on the information given by Bollywood actor Vindoo. He will be produced before metropolitan court on Friday.”

However, Roy, the probing officer of this case has not said anything about Gurunath’s involvement in spot fixing, as they need more time to squeeze information from him in that regard. MCB police are planning to seek one week custody of him. Already, they got permission for Vindoo custody up to May 28th. They are planning question Vindoo and Gurunath simultaneously on spot fixing and betting on IPL matches.

BCCI president N.Srinivasan is now under extreme pressure for his resignation with the arrest of his son-in-law Gurunath. Soon he may make announcement about his resignation or else may be removed by the government.
