Gambhir to leave IPL captaincy and salary

Gautam Gambhir has delivered a shocker to his fans. He has decided to step down from the captaincy of the franchise. He also denied taking his 2.8 crore salary citing his poor performance. It could probably be the first time in the history of IPL that a player has denied to take his salary. Delhi Daredevils has lost five matches out of six and stood on the last step of the table. Gambhir himself is not in a great form with only 85 runs from all the matches. Delhi Daredevils couldn’t even chase a decent target of 143 made by Punjab XI. Now that Gambhir has owned the responsibility for the poor run, Mumbai batsman Shreyas Iyer will take over the captaincy for the remaining eight matches.
