Jayalalitha gets relief from SC

Former CM of the Tamilnadu state Jayalalitha got relief as the Supreme Court has extended her bail till April 2015. Jayalalitha, who was found guilty in disproportionate assets cases and convicted with 4 years’ imprisonment and Rs. 100 crore fine, was able to secure two months and that period will end in this month. So, her efforts to get extension for bail bring some relief to her. However, the apex court orders the Karnataka state high court to monitor day-to-day progress of her case that was taken-up by it.

However, if see how the other politicians like Laloo Prasad Yadav, Jagan Mohan Reddy, Kanimoli, A Raja and many other politicians accused in different cases are leading normal lives by prolonging their cases, one can expect Jayalalitha also may adopt the same technique to escape from the punishment. So, her lawyers may try to drag on her case as many years as possible.

The only drawback is that she can’t contest any elections and so can’t become Chief Minister of her state again, as she was disqualified for convicted with fours jail term. So until she gets a clean chit from the courts, she may try to run the state government sitting in the back seat, the way Sonia Gandhi runs UPA-1 and 2 governments during last ten years.
