Durga Prasad may passed away, but the political games continue

Political parties of the AP state may have their own plans and intentions behind their fights of special status, but it costs the common people very dearly. Chebroulu Durga Prasad (49) of West Godavari district, influenced with our political leaders’ preaching about special status has made suicide attempt two months ago. He was given treatment at hospitals at Eluru, Vijayawada and at Hyderabad, but couldn’t survive. He breathed his last at Eluru hospital on Friday morning.

He made suicide attempt fearing that his daughter won’t get any job, if special status is not granted to the state. His death may not make any difference for the political parties which are provoking the people for special status, but very badly impacts his family, who have no other income sources. This incident is underlining the rude impact of the political leaders’ provocative speeches on the common man’s lives.

Soon after the news broke about his death, YSR Congress party leader M Seshubabu blames the TDP government for his death. He said it was not a suicide but is a murder committed by the government. Hence, government has to shoulder the responsibility for his death. This blame game between political parties may continue for a while and later they may switch to some other issue. But there is no one to help the bereaved family. However, political parties keep playing this political chess game using the common man as their pawns. Hence, people should treat this incident as an eye opener and understand how the political parties will react if anyone commits suicide for special status or some other cause and what would be the fate of the family.
