Is Congress sending feelers to Nitish Kumar?

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar is known to be the first persons who strongly oppose Gujarat CM Narendra Modi’s leadership of their NDA alliance. He time and again has made it clear that if Modi is stalled as the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate for the upcoming elections and given reins to lead the party in the elections, he is going to bid good bye to NDA alliance.

Sniffing this rare opportunity Congress has thrown bait for Nitish Kumar during the presentation of budget by Finance Minister Chidambaram yesterday. In his speech FM said Bihar state is earmarked part of his budget especially for the development of the backward regions of the state. “I propose to evolve new criteria and reflect them in future planning and fund devolution,” specifically said FM, pointing at Bihar state.

Nitish Kumar also promptly responding to his feelers has said ‘It is victory in principle.’

If, their friendship blossoms as expected then, NDA will lose one of its key alleys to Congress party. This may further create rift between NDA and finally may clear way for UPA in the forthcoming elections. In the prevailing situation, BJP can’t afford to lose either Nitish Kumar or Narendra Modi. Loosing either of them will betray it from its big dreams of coming back to power in the next elections.

Hence, BJP has to ensure Nitish Kumar glued to NDA and at the same time it has to work out for a perfect synchronization of two opposite ends-Nitish Kumar and Narendra Modi to make its dreams come true. But, the question is will the Congress let the Nitish Kumar go off its hook? Let us see how these two political rivals play this interesting game and who will win it.
