Justice Sadhashivam is going to take charge as the chief justice of India succeeding Altamas Kabeer, who is retiring on July 18th. He will serve in that post till 26th of April, 2014.Sadhashivam has joined the Madras high court in year 1996. Later, he was transferred to the Punjab high court. He was appointed as Supreme Court judge in year 2007. Justice Sadhashivam is the 40th chief justice of India.
