Boxer Ram Singh arrested

The prize catch of 28kgs ‘life style’ drugs that worth around Rs.480 crores from drug peddler Anoop Singh Kahlon’s house in Zirakpur, Haryana by state police unearths the drug tangle in the sports and police department in the state.

Olympic medalist Vijender Singh, who is holding a DSP rank in Haryana state police and his follower Ram Singh, who is also an international boxer and serving as head constable in the same department were among the 16 persons, who were so far arrested by the state police for drug use and pedaling.

Ram Singh, who was recently arrested, accused the police of planting drugs in Vijender Singh’s house to nab him. However, he too found involved in drug pedaling, when the police laid their hands on Kahlon, the kingpin of this huge drug rocket, who revealed the other names linked to this case, including Ram Singh.

Sr.Superindent of police of Haryana state, HS Mann said that they have recovered 5kg synthetic drug popularly known as 'Ice' and 90kgs narcotics powder (Pseudophedrine) from Ram Singh's brother-in-law Ravicharan Singh Deol house in Sangrur, with which they came to know about Ram Singh’s involvement in this drug rocket. Surprisingly, Deol is also a state level boxer and worked in some Punjabi video music albums.

Vijayender and Ram Singh initially have denied of trying drugs and pedaling. However, they have confessed trying the drugs only after Anoop Singh Kahlon has stated that both are his clients. But, still they are denying drug pedaling charges. Police have sought court permission to collect the blood and hair samples of boxer Vijender Singh to confirm their findings.
