Four bomb blasts rocked Mumbai on Wednesday evening in the crowded Dadar, Opera House and Zaveri Bazar areas and Lemington Road, police said. The blasts went off within minutes of each other killing 11 people and injuring many more. Police, ambulance, home guards and fire brigade have been rushed to the spot.
The first blast took place at 7:10 pm in south Mumbai's Zaveri Bazaar, near the famous Mumbadevi temple, in which some people were injured. The second explosion was reported in a taxi in Dadar area, third one in Opera House area and the fourth one in Lemington Road. Nothing can be said as of now who perpetrated the blasts and the actual number of casualities. Police suspects Indian Mujahideen hand behind these blasts. It is said, police control room got anonymous phone call before the blasts occured. NSG Commondos and NIA team has been rushed to Mumbai and Army has also been alerted.
According to an eyewitness a fire that broke out in Zaveri Bazar following the blasts has been brought under control. Security alerts have been issued in Delhi and Hyderabad after the blasts in Mumbai.
