Fearing drought- IPL to be held overseas

It has been a hard SEASON for BCCI this time. While conducting the latest phase of IPL, it has been facing constant criticism both from the citizens as well the courts. In a drought like situation prevailing in the country, abundant usage of water for IPL matches has been the issue for a debate. A case to that extent was filed in Bombay high court. And the court has ordered BCCI to conduct the IPL matches elsewhere in the country other than Maharashtra. Even as BCCI has moved some of the matches to Rajasthan, where another case was waiting for them in the High court. Rajasthan high court too has signaled that it’s not going to be an easy case for them.

While BCCI has been making arrangements to argue the case in Rajasthan, a news from Chhattisgarh came out that might add to their woes. A PIL was filed in Chhattisgarh high court regarding two IPL matches to be played in their state. This case too of course is against the wastage of water for IPL matches. So the BCCI Secretary Anurag Thakur has revealed that from next year, overseas venues would be considered for playing IPL matches. He assured that the availability of the venues as well as the prevailing conditions would be checked out before scheduling the matches.
