Andhra and Telangana governments relieved

 

Relief to Andhra:

Central government intervenes to settle the dispute between Andhra and Telangana governments over release of Krishna River water from Nagarjun Sagar dam to Krishna district. The Central Water Board Chairman AB Pandya has convened a meeting with Chief Secretaries of both states at Hyderabad on Tuesday. Pandya, who is also in-charge chairman of Krishna water board has ordered the Telangana government to release 6 thousand cusecs of water for one week starting from tomorrow. The board members will meet again after one week and take an appropriate decision after reviewing the situation.

 

Relief to Telangana:

AP government’s decision to cancel all the power purchase agreements made with Telangana power distribution companies prior to bifurcation of the state has been withheld by the Southern Power Regulatory Commission today. It decides to follow existing agreements until Centre takes some decision on this issue. Hence, Telangana as usually will get 615mw power supply from APGENCO until Centre will take a decision on this issue.
