‘Afzal Guru decision after winter session’

 

 

 

 

 

Union Minister for Home Affairs Sushil Kumar Shinde has informed that the decision on the mercy plea of Afzal Guru would be taken after the completion of the winter session of Parliament, which ends on 20th of this month.

 

‘The plea of the Parliament attack convict was returned by the President Pranab Mukherjee and is now with my ministry’, said Shinde. He, however, said that he had six more files of the same kind before him. He said that he would see the file of Guru in detail after the session is over.

 

Afzal Guru is a Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist and convicted in the attack on the Parliament of India in December 2001. In the incident, nine people were killed and 16 others were injured. Some security personnel were too injured in the incident. He was awarded the death sentence by the apex court of India in 2004. His sentence was actually to be carried out in 2006.
