With Jaya still in Hospital,TN looking for interim CM

The Governor of Tamil Nadu, Vidyasagar Rao , met Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu along with Finance Minister O. Panneerselvam and PWD Minister Edapadi Palanisamy. A Raj Bhavan statement said the governor discussed issues relating to general administration. Chief secretary P Rama Mohana Rao briefed the governor about the functions being carried out on a day-to-day basis. After meeting the governor, the ministers dropped in at Apollo hospital where their cabinet colleagues had gathered. The Governor enquired about the health of Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and also about the arrangements made for the visit of the High-level Technical Committee on Cauvery water issue constituted by the Union Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Ministry. Panneerselvam was caretaker CM on two occasions in 2001 and 2014, when Jayalalithaa had to vacate the post owing to legal impediments.With Apollo Hospital’s last medical bulletin released on Thursday evening clarifying that Jayalalithaa, who is undergoing treatment for lung ailment since September 22, required a longer stay in the hospital, political circles in Chennai are abuzz with rumours that an interim CM could be appointed to rule the state.
