The villagers who noticed explosives strapped to the tracks at an under-bridge near Yelisinagandi village of Medak district, 50 kms from Hyderabad, immediately informed the Railway Police. A posse of railway policemen, who rushed there, defused the explosive device which contained five packets connected to non-electric detonators and a 20 ft long fuse wire. "The packets are suspected to be containing Ammonium Nitrate based High Explosives," Railway SP, B.L. Kanta Rao told. However, he refused to divulge more information saying investigation was in progress.
Investigation is going on to identify the culprits, but no clue has been found so far. It is not possible at this moment to tell why and by whom the explosives were planted. The railway line connects Mumbai with Hyderabad and several express trains such as Mumbai Express, Hussain Sagar Express, Manmad Express travel on this line. Railway traffic was not affected, according to railway authorities.
