Cracks wide open in UP SP political scene
Updated : Sep 16, 2016
Cracks seemed to be visible out there in the open in the Uttar Pradesh Samajwadi party political scene ahead of the much anticipated poll season coming up. After a high-level drama for five days in the Yadav clan, the family reached a truce today. Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today downplayed the ongoing feud between his son Akhilesh and brother Shivpal. Addressing the media Mulayam said, "Samajwadi Party is a family, there canonot be a division till I am alive." He said, "It is elections time, we should all come together and work.
There is no fight between Ramgopal Yadav, Akhilesh & Shivpal." He said, "Every father and son duo faces issues. There is no rift. But there is fault of our people as well, who spoke to media." Akhilesh had earlier said that "some people" had a problem with him since he was the chief minister, a statement that Shivpal refused to let go unquestioned. "The UP CM's chair is such that one becomes egoistic. But one should not be egoistic," he told reporters in the evening. He also sought to shield controversial SP leader Amar Singh whom both Akhilesh and Mulayam's cousin Ram Gopal Yadav had insinuated as the reason for the flare up.
