Rajya Sabha rocks with Wal Mart issue
Updated : Dec 10, 2012
Even before the UPA government’s FDI bill drama fades away from the memories, once again it caught with another issue of same type. This time it was the retail giant Wal Mart’s lobbying in the country.
Wal Mart in its latest audited reports has shown Rs.18 crores as the expenses for lobbying in India during year 2012. It also mentions that it starts the lobbying process as back as from year 2008 in India. The audited copy of its report falls into hands of the opposition parties and it rocks Rajya Sabha with the demands of investigation into this issue. The opposition members in the house asked the UPA government, to whom the Wal Mart has paid that amount. They blame the UPA government for bringing the FDI bill for they have accepted bribes from the Wal Mart Company and probably from many others also.
