Updated : Oct 5, 2016
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) to discuss the security scenario in the wake of the surgical strikes on terror launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC), is understood to have cautioned his Cabinet colleagues and gagged his ministers from making public statements and suggested that only Army has the right to talk about it. During the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, he is understood to have told his ministerial colleagues that only authorised people should speak on the issue of surgical strikes and one should avoid speaking out of turn, sources said. With the chorus rising the PM had to stepped in to rein in his cabinet colleagues and party leaders. The PM told the ministers not to indulge in chest beating or open credit taking for the surgical strike. The meeting also reportedly discussed whether or not the videos of the surgical strikes given to the government by the Army should be made public, as demanded by the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress.
