NPAs are a concern in our banking system

CHENNAI: Pranab Mukherjee, the president of India, said in an event that has been conducted to celebrate 100 years of KVB that, the Indian economy and the Indian banking system were doing reasonably well when compared to the Western counterparts. Non-performing assets were a concern, but overall system was resilient and far more insulated to shocks, the President added.At the University Centenary Auditorium, Madras University, he said that, in 2008, what started with small mortgage loans ended up as international financial crisis from which we were yet to recover, adding “But, the Indian banking industry still stood firm and strong due to sagacious management”.
