Apollo initiates heart failure registry

HYDERABAD: A dedicated heart failure registry will soon be set up by the Apollo Hospitals. Consultant heart failure specialist from Apollo Hospitals, Dr. Jayakeerthi Rao made the announcement at the launching event of a Heart Failure Clinic.
On this context, Mr Rao said, “with an estimated 30k-40k heart failure cases reported from AP as well as TG, a heart failure registry will provide actionable knowledge for policy makers to take preventive measures”, adding “Unlike cardiac arrest, heart failure is a condition in which a weakened heart has trouble pumping enough blood throughout the body and there is a possibility of morality in 50% of heart failure patients without timely intervention”.
