Andhra Pradesh is free from FMD

HYDERBAD: On Wednesday, the government of Andhra Pradesh issued a notification which declares that the state is free from foot and mouth diseases. The state issued the notification under section 6(5) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious and Contagious Diseases in Animals Act, 2009.New cases of FMD have not been reported by the state and there was no outbreak of the disease in buffaloes, pigs and cows since the last two years as per AP’s animal husbandry department. Furthermore, vaccines would be supplied by the state to make sure that the disease is completely eradicated.
