I don’t want to go to Mizo: Guv.Narayan

Maharashtra Governor Shankar Narayan has resigned to his post yesterday protesting his transfer to Mizoram. He said ‘It is not possible for me to go to Mizoram.’ He was continuing as Maharashtra Governor since 2010 and known as Congress loyalist. However, he claims that he is very friendly with all political parties yet never indulged in politics misusing his powers as Governor. Soon after the government changes at Centre, he was the first person asked to step down by the new government. However, he refused to step down as he has three more years’ term. Hence, Modi government took the other route to fix him and it worked very well as he voluntarily offered his resignation. Soon after sending his resignation letter to President of India, the 82 year old Congress veteran has declared that he will return to active politics.

Few points are to be noticed in this whole affair. Shankar Narayan refusal to go to Mizoram is very disgraceful not only to him but also to the state. Mizoram may be one of the backward and remote states of India, but it shouldn’t be a constraint for a Governor to take charge of the state. But, he plainly said that it is not possible for him to go there. Perhaps, he would have agreed if he was transferred to some developed states like Tamilnadu or Punjab or Gujarat etc. He behaved like an ordinary employee, who generally wants to cling to metros or big cities for the facilities they offer.

His second decision to return to active politics is a fine testimony for his power hungriness. He is 82 years old and still he is power hungry. He says that he has never shown interest in playing politics during his service, but he now declares returning to politics. Probably, he is heading for a humiliating of his political career.
