MP CM Announces Judicial Enquiry on Encounter'

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday announced that a judicial enquiry will be conducted into an encounter of eight SIMI activists. Justice S.K. Pandey (retired) would conduct the probe. Eight SIMI activists were killed by the police hours after they escaped from a Bhopal jail. This happened hours after they escaped from Bhopal Central Jail after murdering a security guard. Opposition parties, including the Congress, raised questions on the encounter after video clips showed a jawan opening fire. Around 2 am at the Bhopal Central Jail, the terrorists tied up one guard and allegedly killed a head constable, Rama Shankar, using sharp pieces of prison-issue meal plates and glass shards. Then they tied together bedsheets to climb several walls around the jail. The break-out was planned on Diwali night, when fireworks fill the skies in thick smoke and obscure all other noise.
