CBI to Call Chandrababu Naidu For Questioning

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is all set to register a case against TDP supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu and his family members following allegations of amassing assets disproportionate to known sources of income. According to sources, the CBI's Hyderabad unit is likely to register the case by Tuesday folloowing the directions of the AP High Court. The court had directed the CBI and Enforcement Directorate to investigate the allegations levelled against Mr. Naidu by former chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy widow and YSR Congress Party MLA Vijayamma.

The CBI sources said, "Immediately after registering the case, we will start collecting relevant documents from the authorities concerned, including the state government. Mr. Naidu will also be called for questioning in this regard." Meanwhile, the ED has also decided to start its probe against Mr Naidu and his family members. Sources in the ED said, "We will investigate violation of foreign exchange rules, if any. His statement will also be recorded under the provisions of the Prevention of the Money Laundering Act (PMLA).” “The ED will also probe foreign investments, if any, made by Mr Naidu and his associates. He will soon be called for questioning by the ED,” sources said.
