BSNL website hacked, restored later

The website of the government run organization BSNL has been hacked by some persons. However, the site with the address www.bsnl.co.in was restored quickly.

Hackers, with the group ‘Anonymous India’, are demanding the withdrawal of the Section 66 A of the IT Act. They did the same in support of the activists Aseem Trivedi and Alok Dixit, who are on hunger strike to protest the act. Both the persons were on strike for the last six days in protest of the act.

The CMD of BSNL R.K.Upadhyay said that their website was hacked and their staff were on the mission of restoring it. The group has declared that the site was hacked and their passwords were leaked. Episode had started after some persons were arrested by Mumbai police for their Facebook posts.

The above act deals with the spreading hatred through electronic messages. The union government has issued some guidelines by which only a police officer above the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police can sanction the prosecution.
