TRS MLA Threatened Settlers: Complaint to CEC

TRS MLA Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy, who got elected recently in Banswada bypoll has allegedly threatened settlers from Andhra region in Nizamabad district. Former IPS officer C Anjaneya Reddy urged the chief election commissioner to initiate action against the MLA after conducting a probe into the matter.

In his complaint, C Anjaneya Reddy said that after his re-election in the bypoll on the TRS ticket, Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy openly threatened the people who settled in Telangana long ago, for not voting for him, Anjaneya Reddy said. People from coastal districts of the state who settled in Nizamabad district about 70 years ago, are still considered settlers by him. Issuing such threats is punishable under Section 125 of the Representation of People's Act, the former IPS officer said. "In view of the culpable conduct of the MLA, we request you to conduct an inquiry into the matter by a senior officer of the Election Commission," Anjaneya Reddy requested the CEC.
