Mohammed Bin Omer Yafai alias Mohammed Pahelwan, the prime accused in the MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi attack case was released on bail last week after four months in the Chanchalguda jail. Speaking at a press meet, he alleged that he and his family were victims of "political vendetta" unleashed in the Old City.
Speaking to the media Pahalwan told that the Old City was in the grip of "political monarchy" where no one was allowed to question the authority of the MIM. He said that his nephew Ibrahim Bin Younus Yafai "sacrificed his life for the honour of his family." "Chandrayangutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi is misusing his political power to settle scores with us because we worked against him and his brother Asaduddin Owaisi in the 2009 general election," he said. Pahelwan also alleged that his detention in prison was prolonged for more than four months owing to political pressure on the police.
Mohammed Pahalwan welcomed the high court's direction following which cases were registered against Owaisi, another MIM MLA Ahmed Balala and his personal security guard Jani Miya in the April 30 Barkas attack case. Police had said that Ibrahim, who is the son of Mohammed Pahelwan's elder brother Younus Bin Omer Yafai, died after gunman Jani Miya opened fire during the attack. But the complaint filed by Ibrahim's brother Awad, also an accused in the case, alleged that Ibrahim succumbed to bullet injuries fired from Akbaruddin Owaisi's weapon.
