Plain Butter Cookies

 

 

Cookies are kids all time favorite snack so as for elders. There are so many varieties of cookies we can bake at home like, Chico chips, oatmeal, peanut butter, nuttella and the list goes long. Today, we are presenting simple plain butter cookies to start with...

 

Ingredients:
Atta - 1Cup
Salt- 1/4 table spoon
Baking Powder - 1/2Tsp
Sugar - ¼ Cup
Ghee - ¼ Cup
Milk - 2 Tbsp
Salt - 2 Cups (For Baking)

 

Instructions

* Take a big pressure cooker and add 2 cups of salt on the perforated plate which come along with pressure cooker . Cover cooker with lid and remove whistle, keep it ready.


* Refrigerate ghee for 1 hour to make it thick. Now, in a bowl, mix atta, baking powder, salt, sugar and break the cold ghee into small pieces and rub that in the atta. Make sure the ghee is very cold and is solidified. Add in milk and mix well. Now pop this in the freezer for 15 more minutes to he right consistency.


* Now heat the cooker in medium flame, so that by the time,  we are ready with the biscuits, the cooker will also be preheated and ready.


* Once the dough is cold, sprinkle some atta on a rolling board and shape the dough and make it smooth.


* Roll it gently as per your preference similar the way you make rotis, but little thick... Now cut the biscuits using a knife or use cookie cutters which are available in market in various shapes.


* Grease a plate with some ghee and place the cookies. Transfer the plate to the cooker and bake the cookies for 10 minutes  in low-med flame. Check once in between and once cooked, remove them from cooker and bring down to normal temperature before you serve.

These cookies go well with evening tea/coffee
