Tirupati Municipal elections in June-July likely

 

Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana, who came to Tirupati on Thursday, holds a meeting with town municipal commissioner Vinay Chand and the municipal officials. They discussed about various measures to be taken to convert the Tirupati into smart city, solid waste management, corporation revenue, reorganizing of wards etc.

 

Later, the minister holds press meet in the corporation office. He said that the government is planning to conduct elections to Tirupati Municipal Corporation elections between June or July months this year. He said that his department is planning to arrange a solid waste management plants in all the 13 districts in the state within next one or two years.

 

Responding to a media question, he said the master plan of the capital city will be in hand by end of June this year. Once it is ready then construction activities also will begin within next two or three months said the minister.

 

Tirupati municipality was recently upgraded to corporation. However, its territory remains more or less same as before. Currently it has 36 wards. They will be reorganized into 50 divisions before conducting the elections. after bringing five panchayats- M.R. Palle, Rajiv Nagar, Timminaidypalem, Settipalle and Jeeva Kona located around Tirupati. There is total 3 lakh population and out of it 1.7 lakh voters are in the town.
