No bilateral talks with Pak during Rajnath's visit

The Ministry of External affairs has cleared the air with regards to the speculation of a bilateral talk taking place when Home Minister Rajnath Singh travels to Pakistan for a SAARC summit. They made it clear tha there will be no bilateral meeting between Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Pakistani leaders on the sidelines of the the SAARC ministerial conference on August 4. MEA Spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted, "Let me categorically state that @Home Minister of India is going for SAARC event.

There will be no bilateral meetings with Pakistan." SAARC home minister's conference is to be held on August 3-4. The first meeting of SAARC Interior/Home Ministers was held in Dhaka on May 11, 2006 followed by a meeting in New Delhi in 2007. The meeting in Pakistan is significant as Singh last week slammed the neighbor state for interfering in India’s internal affairs – the current unrest in Kashmir. The three-tier meeting will begin at the joint secretary-level and then move on to Secretary and Home Minister-level meetings.
