Nelson Mandela suffering from lung infection

 

 

  

‘Former South African president Nelson Mandela has been suffering from lung infection. However, he is responding well to the treatment’, said a spokesperson of the President of the country. The statement said that Mandela had been providing with all the necessary treatment.

 

The 94-year-old anti apartheid icon was first admitted at 1 Military Hospital near Pretoria on last Saturday. It was found a year ago that he had an acute respiratory infection. He has retired from public life since he was out of the top post in the country.

  

The government officials said that Mandela does not face any immediate danger. The office of the President explained that it was too early to give an update on his health as they have to hear the same first from the doctors.

 

It may be recalled that he has a series of health problems in his life. He had tuberculosis during his life in prison. He suffered from prostate cancer too in 2001.

 

Nelson Mandela is a leader of a struggle against the racist white rule in the country. He was released from the jail in 1990 after 27 years. He could complete one five year term as the President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. The most influential men in the 20th century was first hospitalized on last Saturday.
