Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3 released today with much fanfare as the actor is also celebrating his 66th birthday. The film created a record by recovering costs with pre-sales. But the first responses on X are divided and extremely mixed. While fans are celebrating it as a blockbuster, neutral audiences are not as impressed by this Jeethu Joseph's "slow-burner thriller" that takes too long to get into action. 

Pacing is the biggest complaint from popular reviewers and critics, too. Viewers noted the first half takes a while to set up, only picking up near the interval. The second half, however, fails to carry that energy forward despite multiple twists. Many felt the film lacks the emotional depth of the original and the shocking payoff of the sequel. 

A prevailing opinion online is that Georgekutty’s core story was already done, making this third film feel like an unnecessary drag. The climax is also drawing debate. While the pre-climax sequence delivers a solid high point, the narrative drags heavily afterward, killing the overall impact. 

Early reviews reflect this mixed word-of-mouth, with ratings hovering around 2.25 to 2.5. Despite these issues, Mohanlal’s screen presence and the Drishyam brand are still pulling crowds. Hardcore fans are thrilled to see Georgekutty back, but regular moviegoers clearly expected a much tighter thriller.
