Naveen Chandra has been starring in interesting films from time to time. The actor does leading roles and even supporting roles mixing them all up according to the script requirements. With his versatlity, he is able to deliver some memorable performances creating a good name for himself in Telugu Cinema. Now, his intense thriller Eleven released in theatres and let's discuss about it in detail.
Plot:
ACP Aravind (Naveen Chandra) keeps growing in stature as a police officer all over. On the other hand, another ACP Ranjith (Shashank) gets the serial killer case. The killer keeps burning the bodies without any evidence. Why is he doing so? Ranjith fails to get closer but still he gets severely injured in a car accident. Now, Aravind takes over the case and he has to solve the mystery behind these killings. He finds out that killer is going after twins. Why? Watch the movie to know more.
Analysis:
Naveen Chandra is good in his role. As a person who doesn't smile much and highly career-oriented Naveen did a very good job. His performance holds the key for the entire plot to work and he did justice. Reyaa Hari, also the producer, played dual role and she needs to get more training. Her character had the scope but she could not deliver what it needed. All others did okay and no one really could deliver anything special to write about.
The film director Lokesh Ajjls followed many template cliches in building the screenplay and narrative is flat throughout without the moments that really catch our attention. Even the story feels too jaded and outdated with call backs to films like Memories, Rakshasudu and few others. While Abirami character had much more potential, the makers did not really explore her character or dynamic with the main leads perfectly.
Also, the writing doesn't really go into the depth of the characters. Each and every frame feels like we have seen it before and doesn't really inspire to give our attention fully. The mystery has not been constructed well enough to grab our attention at all places. It feels like a mishmash of all the previous mystery and investigative thrillers assembled into one. While the orginality and novelty is the biggest asset of such thrillers, Eleven feels too convoluted.
Rather than trying to connect us with the characters, director handles the narrative superficially and hence, the mystery seems predictable and twists never create the interest that the makers wanted to. On the whole, Eleven could have been a much better thriller with more onus of screenplay and script writing.
Bottomline:
Eleven falls short of being a good thriller.
Rating: 2/5
