The Telugu Film industry which has completed more than 100 years of existence cannot forget the contribution of one of the finest actors –Sri Chittor V Nagaiah!
A rare combination in those days Sri Nagaiah was an actor, composer, director, producer, writer, journalist and playback singer, a govt. Clerk before he joined films . He was also an active participant in the freedom movement where he took part in the struggle influence by Gandhi and Nehru. He acted in over 200 Telugu films , also in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi films and the noteworthy ones include Vande Matharam’ (1939), ‘Sumangali’ (1940), ‘Devata’ (1941), ‘Bhakta Potana’ (1942), ‘Swarga Seema’ (1945), ‘Thygayya’ (1946). Ramadasu’ in 1964 - which won the National Film Award. He was awarded the Padmashri, by the Government of India in 1965. Sri Nagaiah died in December 30, 1973 and it is very important that we remember these pillars of the Telugu Film Industry time and again.
