No Tollywood Sequel is a Hit

Tollywood carries a very bad history in terms of making 'Sequels' successful. The track record of our Telugu movies is very poor than our counterparts Bollywood yet filmmakers thrive on making sequel to break the jinx. Although the phenomenon of making a sequel is familiar and highly successful in Hollywood, Telugu film industry miserably failed to adapt this concept. So first, let's date back to few sequel movies, which did not do well albeit the first one was a big hit.These stats indicate that there's no place for sequel in contemporary Telugu cinema?

Is there any? So in this scenario, can Ravi teja and Puri Jagannath break this sequence and create history?

Arya was a super hit and the movie has marked the foray of yet another hero from the mega camp – Allu Arjun. Cut to Arya 2 the sequel, well, you know the story. Even Sukumar admitted his directorial failure.

Starring Rajinikanth, Chandramukhi was a blockbuster but its sequel Nagavalli (starring Venkatesh) was a failure. People went on to say that the movie was more like Chandramukhi and less like a sequel.
