Telangana CM puts forth new rule for ticket hikes

on Oct 28, 2025

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced a groundbreaking measure to ensure film industry workers receive a fair share of increased movie revenues. The Chief Minister pointed out that while higher cinema ticket prices significantly boost the earnings of producers and lead actors, the financial benefit rarely reaches the thousands of technicians and laborers on the ground.

To rectify this imbalance, CM Revanth Reddy proposed a clear mandate. He said, "If cinema ticket rates are increased, it generates income for the producers and heroes, but the workers see no such profit". He further added, "We must ensure that 20% of that incremental revenue is allocated to the workers."

Further Revanth Reddy confirmed that the state government will issue a Government Order, GO, to formalize this directive. This initiative is expected to establish a major new welfare standard and revenue-sharing model for the Telugu film industry workforce.
