No Birthday Celebrations For Rajini

on Dec 12, 2016

Superstar Rajinikanth turns 66 by today (Dec 12, 2016). Every year, fans celebrate the day grandly. But, this year, Rajini is keeping away from celebrations and also asked his fans not to do any festivities in view of the death of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

68-year old Jayalalithaa, hospitalized on September 22, suffered a cardiac arrest on December 4 and passed away the next day.

Last year also, Rajinikanth did not celebrate his birthday following the severe rains in Chennai and neighboring districts that led to a flood.

Rajinikanth has appeared in over 150 films, primarily in Tamil cinema. He began his film career by playing antagonistic and supporting roles before graduating to a lead actor. He made his cinematic debut with K. Balachander's 1975 Tamil drama Apoorva Raagangal. He had his first major role in Balachander's Telugu drama film Anthuleni Katha (1976), and got his breakthrough in Tamil with Moondru Mudichu (1976), also directed by Balachander. His style and mannerisms in the latter earned recognition from the audience.

After starring in numerous commercially successful films throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Rajini has continued to hold a matinée idol status in the popular culture of Tamil Nadu. Rajinikanth has also worked in other Indian film industries such as Tollywood, Bollywood, Kannada, Malayalam and Bengali.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is working for India’s highest budgeted film Robo 2.0 being helmed by Shankar. The film is scheduled for release during Diwali.

We at Telugucinema.com wish the one and only superstar Rajinikanth a very happy birthday!
