Nivin Pauly sets box office on fire without Pan India hype

on Jan 5, 2026

Nivin Pauly is one of the biggest stars of Malayalam Cinema, who grew bigger with the surge of new-wave cinema in 2010's. His Premam has been an Industry Hit behind Mohanlal's Puli Murugan and Drishyam. The movie had dream run in Chennai and Hyderabad. Post OTT release, it became a cult film with Pan-India recognition.

But his next films did not live up to same hype still became hits at the box office in Kerala and his previous hit came in 2019 with Love Action Drama. After six years, he finally made a big comeback at the box office, with Sarvam Maya. The interesting fact is that the movie is raking big moolah without Pan-India push.

In 10 days, the makers have announced that the movie has collected 101 crores gross at the worldwide box office. It collected Rs.50 crores from Kerala and next biggest contributor has been Overseas markets. The makers did not try to give a Telugu, Tamil or Hindi dub releases and it has limited shows only in other states.

Still, it has created a big wave in Kerala with young producer Riya Shibu, becoming an immediate crush as Delulu, a friendly ghost. Preity Mukundhan and Aju Varghese have played other prominent roles. Akhil Sathyan has directed the film and producers have stated that it is Nivin Pauly's pull at the box office that has made it possible.

It is important to understand that Malayalam Cinema doesn't have a market like Telugu, Hindi and Tamil movies do but they have been able to produce quality content-oriented films that are delivering such impressive figures at BO, while having great repeat value. Nivin's fans are celebrating this moment as his biggest ever litmus test and are asking him to concentrate on films that resonate with audiences rather than over experimenting.
