Nani claims India No 1 but Suriya opposes

Natural Star Nani created a big sensation with HIT 3 and the movie brought in huge footfalls in Telugu States that no other film could in the Summer season. The movie collected huge Rs.38 crores gross in Telugu States and total worldwide gross stands at Rs.43 crores.
The producers have claimed it to be India's No.1 grosser among all releases on Day 1. But later in the day, Suriya's Retro team has released a poster stating Rs.46 crores gross worldwide. The movie collected Rs.17.75 crores gross in Tamil Nadu on Day 1 and it is said to be highest Day 1 for Suriya.
While the later movie did not receive positive word of mouth, Nani's film did receive mixed responses with few loving it and few talking about expecting far more from him and Karthik Subbaraj. Nani's HIT 3 did have sequel advantage along with the trailer and teaser being heavily liked by audiences.
Still, the claims about who scored bigger number on Day 1 seems to have brought a big confusion among trade experts and people who follow box office numbers. Nani is able to deliver his career highest opening with HIT 3 but for Suriya, Retro did not seem to deliver any magical numbers outside TN.
