Telugu Film Industry continues to be plagued with the commercial and parallel film divide. Some of the best feature films made so far never get to be screened but get awards. Unless there is a commercial element like a song or fight the distributers don’t show much interest and wave it off as another award winning film which cannot be released or considered financially viable. If we look at films like Rangula Kala,1940 Oka Gramamlo, Grahanam,Oka Oori Katha, Nimajjanam etc.these films were made by acclaimed film directors and won several awards but they weren't a commercial success, or some of them were not released either. A few them were in the Commercial success genre as they had songs and dance routines to grab the attention of the audience and get the message across.
To put it in the producer and director Rajesh Touchriver’s words in one of his interviews- “There is no star in the film so we have to spend our own money for distribution to get it released” which is a tough proposition for small film makers.
So far, the film has won Best Fest Feature of the Year, Best Film of the Festival, Best Filmmaker and Award of Excellence at the Indonesian Film Festival. It won the Best Feature Film at Trinity International Film Festival in the US of A (which a Telugu film has won after 23 years at Trinity). It has been officially selected for the Beijing International Film Festival.
The 61st National Film Awards for year 2013 which are going to be presented today where Rajesh Touchriver’s Naa Bangaru Talli has bagged three awards- the Best Regional Film in Telugu language award., Best Background Score by Music composer Shantanu Moitra and the film's lead actress Anjali Patil wins the Special Jury award for her performance. The film is based on a real life story which involves human Trafficking but the Telugu Audience can get to see the trailer of the film but wait for its release.
