Legendary Director Balu Mahendra No More

Veteran director Balu Mahendra breathed his last this morning at around 11 am due to a heart attack. 74-year old Balu Mahendra was admitted to a hospital in Chennai after he complained of a chest pain. His personal assistant confirmed the demise over phone just past 11 am.

Balu Mahendra started his career with a Malayalam movie named 'Nellu' as it's cinematographer. He has 20 odd movies to his credit as a cinematographer. Balu then began directing movies. The Tamil movie 'Moondram Pirai' shot him to fame. He has directed more than 20 movies. Balu Mahendra's Bollywood entry happened with the movie 'Sadma' starring Kamal Hasan and Sri Devi. It is one epic movie in his career. One best thing about Balu Mahendra is that he used to handle camera and editing all by himself apart from being a director.

This is definitely a huge loss to the film industry. Although his soul has left the earth, his work and achievements will always stay evergreen in our hearts.
