Kamal Haasan clarifies after Karnataka HC remark

Kamal Haasan has dragged himself into a big controversy with his remarks that Kannada language has originated from Tamil. Talking about his emotional connect with Shiv Rajkumar, he made these comments at Thug Life audio launch event in Chennai and it triggered Kannada activists. Many claimed that he is wrong in stating that Kannada is a derivative language from Tamil. 


They demanded apology from Kamal but the actor stayed adamant on his point. Kannada Film Chamber of Commerce, KFCC, asked Kamal to apologise before 30th May to allow for Thug Life release in Karnataka. With ban threats mounting, Kamal moved to Karnataka High Court and asked them to permit the release. 

 


High Court questioned Kamal Haasan, if he is an historian or a linguist - language expert, to make such remarks. They remarked that with simple apology, he can end the matter amicably and he should do that. Kamal immediately, released a letter from his office stating that his intention has never been to hurt Kannada people. 


He further stated that his remarks have been taken out of context and he regerts it. Thug Life is releasing on 5th June and it is directed by Mani Ratnam. After Nayakan, the duo is back with another gangster flick after 38 years. They promise this to be as good as Nayakan and Simbu, Trisha are playing other leading roles.
