Indian Stars Who Committed Suicides

Kannada actor Dhruv Sharma passed away yesterday due to cardiac arrest and multi-organ failure. Later, it was unveiled that, Dhruv actually committed suicide by taking poison. His father also told the same to media. As per reports, Dhruv Sharma incurred heavy losses in business. So, he was in depress for past few days. Dhruv was not just a good actor, but was also a great cricketer. His demise is a big loss to Sandalwood. Many celebs expressed their shock over Dhruv's extreme step.

Earlier too many Indian film celebrities committed suicides owing to several personal or professional reasons. Here is the list:

Bollywood legendary actor and filmmaker Guru Dutt was found dead in his bed in his residence in Mumbai in 1964. He is said to have sleeping disorders, so used to mix alcohol and sleeping pills. His death may have been suicide, or just an accidental overdose.

 

Silk Smitha was the most sought-after erotic actress in the 1980s. In a career spanning 17 years, she appeared in over 450 films in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Hindi languages. Silk was found dead in her apartment in Chennai in 1996, apparently having committed suicide. Some believe it was suicide due to depression over her debt accumulated from producing movies, while others call it foul play.

 

Kannada yesteryear star actress Kalpana's high-profile career ended with her tragic death in 1979. Her suicide was due to severe health issues, low financial status and alleged failed romance with Gudigeri Basavaraj. Kalpana committed suicide at the age of 35.

 

Uday Kiran committed suicide in 2014. He reportedly hanged himself inside his residence in Hyderabad. Uday 's engagement had been canceled with Chiranjeevi's daughter before. He had suffered from depression due to financial crisis for almost a year. When his career was in full swing, Uday Kiran unnecessarily accepted several films which botched at BO due to lack of potential content. He then waited for long time for film offers. But, he was completely neglected.

 

Senior Telugu actor Ranganath was found hanging in his residence at Hyderabad in 2015. Family members rushed him to the hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival. In a film career spanning more than forty years, Ranganath starred in more than three hundred feature films in a variety of roles.

 

Kunal Singh of Premikula Roju was found hanging from a ceiling in his Mumbai apartment. The apparent suicide was challenged by his father Rajendra Singh who claimed the body showed signs of suspicious bruising. Actress Lavina Bhatia who was the first to see Kunal hanging in his apartment was detained by police in connection with his death, but she was later released after the police could not prove a motive.

 

Divya Bharathi was widely recognised as one of the finest actresses of her time. She died at the helm of her career in 1993 at the tender age of 19. She was found dead after she fell from the window of her fifth floor flat. Some say it was suicide because of a broken heart and some say she just fell.

 

Actress Jiah Khan was reportedly dating actor Sooraj Pancholi and had problems in love life. She was found hanging in her Juhu apartment by her mother and her sister. The actress was allegedly depressed and thought that she was failing at everything. Jiah's mother claims that her daughter was killed by her boyfriend.

 

Fatafat Jayalakshmi was wedded to the nephew of former Tamil Nadu chief minister MG Ramachandran. Unfortunately she resorted to suicide in 1980 when she was at the prime of her youth (22 years). She was very successful during this period, but why she committed suicide is indeed a mystery. Some say that she died because of love failure.

 

Yesteryear actress Jayasudha's husband and Bollywood producer Nitin Kapoor committed suicide by jumping from the terrace of a five-storey building in Andheri, Mumbai.
