Final Destination series has a mix of ironic comedy and horror in a way that we feel like laughing at the probability of death yet feel terrified about the threat looming around. After a gap of 14 years, the new film from the franchise, Final Destination Bloodlines has released on 15th May. The movie trailers and teasers have created good buzz and hype among Indian Audiences, too. Let's discuss about the movie, in detail.

Plot:

Iris Campbell (Gabrielle Rose) saves people who should have died in 1968 as she has a vision about how they would die. After 50 years, her grand daughter Stefani Reyes (Kaitlyn Santa Juana), starts having nightmares about the death of her family members. Can she chase to end of the mystery while death looms surrounding her? What can she do to escape the wrath of death? Watch the movie to know more.

Analysis:

The movie tries to be more entertaining than the previous installments. While it uses its weird deaths to shock audiences it also understands the comic sense behind it. Gore elements and horror are handled better than the last installment yet this seems like a soft reboot of the franchise than a solid addition. It entertains us with the kills being so weird yet we don't connect with the characters to really feel the weight of them.

While Final Destination films never tried to represent emotional depth and great story elements, they did have great amount of fun showcasing several ways of death. But that weird tone needed a lot more integrity in this version. The movie doesn't resort to tried and tested ways to scare audiences and it keeps being innovative in designing deaths throughout.

The screenplay could have been tighter in the fitst houe while the second hour is much better. The runtime also helps the film to be short and racy. With even better writing and script, the movie could have been the best reboot to this franchise. Overall, the movie Final Destination Bloodlines has a lot of gore and violence, which could be too much for few people. Still, if you're a fan of Final Destination series, you can easily watch the movie.

Bottomline:

The movie is a light-hearted installment to reboot the series.

Rating: 2.75/5
