on Jan 28, 2025

Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivn have decided to produce a documentary on the leading actress journey post her marriage. But it became controversial, when Dhanush did not allow her to use Naanum Rowdy Dhaan clips in the documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale, for Netflix.

The couple have decided to go ahead using 3-10 second clips from Behind The Scenes footage with a 3 second clip. Dhanush asked Netflix to take down the content as the flimmakers did not pay him the amount, he has demanded to permit them to use the footage. Now, Neflix moved to Madras High Court against Dhanush and HC has dimissed their petition.

High Court opined that the actor who produced the said film, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, has all the rights to demand compensation for using the footage, according to the copyright law. Dhanush demanded Netflix to take down the content from NRD or pay him Rs.10 crores to use the footage.

Now, Dhanush's lawyer has stated that the actor demands stay put and he wants the clip to be removed. Nayanthara tried to shame him publicly but the actor stood on his ground against her. Legally, Netflix has to adhere to his demands, if not, the actor has asked Madras HC to permit him to sue Los Gatos Production Services LLP, Netflix Indian operator, in Chennai. Let's see how the controversy will take shape going forward.
